There’s been a lot happening in the world of Kim Shaffir Designs! This blog is being relaunched as of today with more musings about knitting, designing and life. I’m looking forward to getting back into writing on a more regular basis.
On the knitting front, I finished my first knit of 2023! I’d been wanting knit up Ranunculus by Midori Hirose for a while. Back in November, my family went to the Maryland Alpaca Festival and I picked up some lovely gray alpaca from a local Maryland farm: Honeycreek Farm and Apiary. The yarn came from this guy here: Handsome Beau’s Here Comes Trouble. It knit up soft and airy, just perfect for this pattern. I’m really happy with how it turned out. I made it slightly longer than the pattern called for as I wanted to be able to tuck in the sweater if I wanted. It’s a classic and can be dressed up or down. Knit on size 10 needles from the top down, the sweater knits up quickly. I would have had it done within two weeks but life got a bit stressful and I delayed picking up and knitting the sleeves for a week.

With the new year, Kim Shaffir Designs has a brand new Instagram account and a new Facebook page. Give both a like and a follow! That way you won’t miss any new pattern releases or tips that I share.
Speaking of patterns, a new one is launching this week. It is called Corazon Hat and is the perfect quick knit to show yourself or that special someone some love. The sample below is knit is Magpie Fibers Swanky DK, a blend of merino, cashmere and nylon. The main color is Dream Beaver and the hearts are done in Don’t You Want Me.

You can look for it beginning January 31 on both Ravelry and Payhip.
And finally, my design business now has a logo! Designed by Goucher student Peter Caplan, it is colorful, whimsical and I love it. Isn’t it cute?

Until next time……Kim
